This is good walking country with nearby marked footpaths leading to the Massif de l&rsquo;Etoile, from whose summit can be seen the plain stretching out to the Mediterranean at Marseille. Elegant Aix-en-Provence with its festival and renowned Cours Mirabeau, the lively beach resorts of Cassis and La Ciotat and sandy beaches can all be reached in about half an hour&rsquo;s drive through the countryside and landscapes made famous by Marcel Pagnol.
