One of the principal French fishing ports, Concarneau is also an important holiday resort which has developed around the Ville-close, an old fortified town dating back to the 15th century and modified by Vauban in the 17th. One of the main towns in the area, Concarneau has 20,000 inhabitants and offers well-equipped all year round commercial and sporting facilities.
